Join the atelier

The role: a six-month studio internship in a working slow fashion atelier, from the development of a collection through its presentation at Berlin Fashion Week. You work by hand, led by Marie-Louise. You start on the date your program sets, any day between 1 September and 1 October 2026. Over six months you contribute across the atelier's craft: - Draping and pattern construction: draping on the form, then translating muslin into flat production patterns, with internal structure such as corsetry, boning and padding for the most demanding pieces - Garment construction and upcycling: cutting and assembling silks, linens and reworked archival material, and adapting patterns so found material reads as intended - Hand embroidery and crochet: bead and tambour embroidery at the frame, and the hand-shaping of crocheted elements for placement - Show support: technical dressing at the runway, with live fittings and backstage alterations under time pressure Who we look for: attitude first. You have genuine energy, you already crochet (basic is enough), and you want six months at the form, at the frame, and backstage at the runway. You are a fashion design student in Berlin, completing a mandatory internship (Pflichtpraktikum) as part of your studies.

The role: an open, voluntary way to be part of the atelier. Some people are here every week. Some appear when a collection needs finishing. Both work. It goes both ways. You contribute your craft. In return you are inside a working slow fashion atelier while a collection is built for Berlin Fashion Week, you see how that is done, and you meet the people who do it: the team, and the photographers and stylists who work with us. How it works: - On-site in the Berlin atelier or from home, with patterns we provide - You contribute on a rhythm that works for both sides, ongoing or for a set period - Your hours are counted and your contribution is credited - The pieces you work on go into our collections Who we look for: you crochet, embroider, finish by hand, or you have another technique you would like to use. Enthusiasm matters more than experience. Nothing starts before we have talked. You meet Marie-Louise, and together we agree what you would contribute and how often. From there you can begin whenever suits you both. Voluntary and unpaid. It is not employment and carries no obligation on either side. Because you see collections before they are public, we ask you to keep what you see inside the atelier until we release it, and we put that in writing when you join. The role: you support the running of the atelier. The work is broad by design: - the rental orders that come in - the daily office and administrative work - photos and videos of what we produce, for Instagram and our website - the practical side of events, production and the season calendar You work directly with the person who leads operations. You would arrive at a busy time. Fashion Positions runs through the autumn, and the preparation for Berlin Fashion Week FW28 runs through the winter. You would work on both, on the organising side. We are a small slow fashion atelier in Berlin. The garments are produced by hand. The office side, which keeps everything else running, has been one person until now. You would be the second. Every week is different. One week is busy with rental orders, the next with preparing for Berlin Fashion Week. How we work does not change: we plan the week first, then we follow the plan. Who we look for: mindset first. You bring genuine energy. You are flexible and versatile, because no two weeks look the same, and you are ready to help with whatever running an atelier asks for that day. Experience counts for less with us than that. You are reliable enough to carry a plan through, and you are comfortable with a camera. You study fashion management, brand management or business in Berlin, or you have experience in office work or communications. You can start on any day between 1 September and 1 October 2026, so it fits your university's dates. Three months is the shortest. It can run longer, for as long as your mandatory placement (Pflichtpraktikum) requires. It is on-site in Berlin, and it is unpaid.
